RAUL!, the organizer of the popular Běhej lesy running races, Jizerská padesátka, and many other sporting events, was looking for a solution to simplify pre-race bib collection and, at the same time, enable quick and efficient communication with thousands of participants on race day. The goal was to process runners faster, eliminate queues, and simplify the bib distribution process.
Innovation that shortened the journey from arrival to start
At every race, organizers face many challenges, and one of them is bib collection. Each participant receives race information, including a code for bib collection, via e-mail, and starting this year, also a link to their digital card with a QR code for collection. This eliminates the need for each runner to search their e-mail; they simply open their Apple or Google Wallet and show the code. For families and teams, this means runners don't have to search for individual bibs; all cards can be stored together, and they can simply swipe through the individual cards.
RAUL! has reduced check-in time to an absolute minimum. The cards are also available in locations with weak mobile signal or no data connection at all.
Race card in the phone – a communication tool
RAUL! first used PassMachine technology as a pilot project in August 2025 for the race in Bílá. After the initial test, the rest of the running season continued digitally. In total, 7 races started this way – four in the Czech Republic and three in Slovakia.
However, race cards are not just for bib collection. The front side displays the bib number, race name, distance, and start time. On the back of the card, runners will find all-important race information, essential links, and, after the race, a direct link to the results. Additionally, there is space for race partners, and runners won't miss any advantageous offers from them.
Notifications allow for immediate information about changes, adjustments, or important reminders. Organizers can schedule and segment them as needed – for example, to alert runners about an upcoming start or time limit. Pre-planned communication then allows them to focus on key tasks on race day and leverage the benefits of automation.
Runners appreciate the new cards
Participants praised the speed of check-in and convenience – they always have the card handy on their mobile. Thanks to notifications, they don't have to keep track of important information or times and can concentrate on their performance during the race.
The digital card allows for:
- Direct communication via notifications,
- Having all family or team cards in one phone,
- Quick switching between cards with a simple swipe,
- Instant scanning without searching emails,
- Having all important information on the back of the card.
RAUL! praises the results and prepares new features
Digital cards are a great benefit for us. Pre-race check-in has significantly sped up, and since every participant always has their phone with them, it's easy for us to communicate directly and without barriers. We have also linked messages with our partners' communication, so participants don't miss out on any benefits or news.
